With the Scoria A100 series, WEROCK Technologies GmbH, innovative manufacturer of industrial IT and communication solutions, is launching two new powerful, handy mobile computers. They combine the best features of a smartphone with those of professional devices, ensuring efficient, secure workflows and data collection in retail, manufacturing and distribution centers. For example, the robustly built devices support high-speed processes to meet requirements such as same-day delivery.

The modern Scoria A104 and Scoria A105 touch computers simplify work in many ways. A high-end 2D barcode scanner is integrated directly into the housing of the industrial handhelds for the daily entry and exit of warehouse and retail goods. Specially developed for the most scan-intensive tasks, it scores with lightning-fast and reliable scans. The first-class high-performance data capture scores with industry-leading decoding algorithm, advanced focusing, optics and illumination system and increases the productivity and efficiency of the employees. The integrated “Aiming LED” and the optically clearly defined scan field provide additional visual support for efficient scanning. This not only enables very high scanning speeds, but also the capture of difficult codes that are damaged or smeared, for example. An integrated 13 megapixel camera also enables the capture of images and documents, as well as proof of repairs/maintenance performed, damaged products/packaging and current conditions of equipment.

Long, uninterrupted use is also taken care of in the Scoria series. The internal battery is one of the largest in this device class and is more than sufficient for a typical 8-hour workday, while the optional Snapon battery doubles the runtime. The devices can be charged at increased speeds via USB-C thanks to QuickCharge 3.0 or via optionally available single or multi-docking stations.

Scoria A104 and Scoria A105 are not only ideal as mobile computers, the two devices also cut a fine figure as phones and score with excellent voice quality and functionality. They can be used directly in all conceivable environments. Since employees are usually familiar with Android, the learning curve is minimal. The handheld computers are waterproof and dustproof and can withstand drops onto concrete as well as snow, rain, heat and cold. This ruggedness has additionally been certified to military standard MIL-STD-810G to ensure many years of investment protection.

The Scoria A104 and Scoria A105 are also on par with normal smartphones in terms of performance and connectivity. In addition to the robust design, they impress with a powerful Qualcomm processor, 4 GB RAM RAM and Android 9 for fast and stable operations. For comprehensive wireless connectivity, Scoria A100 series devices communicate via Wi-Fi with AC standard for prompt access to download and upload connections, USB-C for fast data exchange, Bluetooth® 4.1 BLE and NFC for best connectivity with BT and NFC devices respectively. Integrated Assisted GPS with OTDOA enables fast navigation and positioning, ideal for use on the go.

The technical features of the two models from WEROCK are largely the same. The Scoria A104 mobile computer has a high-contrast 4 inch touchscreen display and 16 physical buttons, in addition to the side scan buttons and touch controls, while the Scoria A105 has a slightly larger 5 inch display. Both touchscreens have multi-touch capabilities and are easy to read both indoors and outdoors in direct sunlight.

The two MDE devices are complemented by an extensive catalog of accessories such as an ergonomically shaped handle for particularly intensive scanning areas, RFID scanner, input pens, Snapon battery, docking stations and holders for different application scenarios.

Markus Nicoleit, Managing Director of WEROCK Technologies GmbH, explains: “Our new handhelds are the ideal compromise for anyone who needs to do a lot of scanning, but at the same time doesn’t want to work with a heavy and unwieldy MDE device. It is the perfect device for short scanning distances such as those found in goods receiving, retail or parcel deliveries.” With a depth of 16 mm, the devices fit in any trouser pocket and, at 220 grams, are insignificantly heavier than commercially available smartphones.

Scoria A104 as well as A105 can be purchased immediately via WEROCK or authorized distribution partners. Like all of the company’s products, the CO2 footprint of the handhelds, which is inevitably created by production and transport, is fully offset via WWF Gold Standard climate projects.
