Quarterly Report Climate Q2/25

WEROCK continues to grow – and so do the greenhouse gas emissions generated by production and logistics. In this article, you will find out what emissions were generated in the second quarter of 2025, how we dealt with them and what measures we are taking to reduce them. Join us on our journey to becoming the leading provider of industrial IT.

Greenhouse gas emissions

Greenhouse gas emissions increased by 4% compared to the first quarter, while they are 472% higher compared to the second quarter of 2024. This is mainly due to the fact that we initiated little new production in the second quarter. If we compare the month with the average data for 2024 as a whole, we see an increase of 51%. This is in line with expectations and is due to the company’s continued growth.

As a manufacturing company, the majority of emissions are caused by the production of components at external partner factories, the so-called Scope 3 emissions according to the GHG Protocol. These emissions are also fully offset by WEROCK. In the second quarter of 2025, the proportion of Scope 3 emissions was 96.66% and thus remained constant.

Climate-neutralized through offsetting

Unfortunately, computers cannot be manufactured in a climate-neutral way. However, it is part of our corporate philosophy to compensate for unavoidable emissions in order to be climate-neutral, at least in terms of our balance sheet. To this end, we invest in sustainable projects with high standards that – where possible – meet at least five of the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations. You can find out who receives these funds and how they are used in this quarterly climate report.

Our climate compensation for the first quarter supports a project by the project developer Sustainable Carbon. The “Ceará Renewable Energy Bundled Project” replaces illegally harvested firewood with agricultural and industrial biomass in five Grupo Tavares brickworks in the Brazilian state of Ceará. This avoids around 50,000 t of CO₂ equivalents per year, protects 1750 ha of caatinga forest and simultaneously finances local income and social programs.

You can find an overview of previous projects on our page for environmental protection.

Progress

The emissions data for industrial panel PCs, embedded computers, tablet PCs and notebooks has been supplemented with additional data. For new products, we will publish more detailed information on the specific CO2e emissions generated per product on our environmental protection page in future. The database will be continuously updated and expanded in order to provide even more precise information in the future.

Setbacks

We have no notable setbacks to report for the second quarter.

Fun fact on the side: our vegetarian rate is currently over 50%, which also underlines the sustainable approach of our employees.

Outlook

We expect emissions to remain roughly the same or fall slightly in the third quarter, as we have already started large-scale production in the second quarter, which will ensure better economies of scale and lower real emissions along the supply chain.
