WEROCK continues to grow – and so do the greenhouse gas emissions generated by production and logistics. In this article, you will find out what emissions were generated in the third quarter of 2025, how we dealt with them and what measures we are taking to reduce them. Join us on our journey to become the leading provider of industrial IT.
Greenhouse gas emissions
WEROCK records all emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol, including so-called Scope 3 emissions. The GHG Protocol distinguishes between Scope 1 (direct emissions, e.g. from our own cars, ovens and other equipment …), Scope 2 (indirect emissions that are directly related to Scope 1 – i.e. electricity, steam, heating and cooling) and Scope 3 (indirect emissions from purchased goods, transportation, waste, travel, etc. – but also products manufactured in external factories).
The Scope 3 share is highest for most companies, including ours. It was 97.4% in the third quarter of 2025 – around 0.8% more than in the previous
This change is due to an increase in production volume, while Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions remained largely unchanged. Due to some larger production orders and the continued positive business development, emissions have increased by a further 38% compared to the previous quarter. This means that greenhouse gas emissions for 2025 YTD are already over 40% higher than for the full year 2024 to date.
Climate-neutralized through offsetting
Unfortunately, computers cannot be manufactured in a climate-neutral way. However, it is part of our corporate philosophy to compensate for unavoidable emissions in order to be climate-neutral, at least in terms of our balance sheet. To this end, we invest in sustainable projects with high standards that – where possible – meet at least five of the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations. You can find out who receives these funds and how they are used in this quarterly climate report.
Our climate compensation for the third quarter supports a project of the textile manufacturer Menderes Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. The “Aliaga Wind Power Project” is a 19.2 MW wind power plant located in Izmir, Turkey. The project is located in a district where refineries, ship-breaking facilities and other industries that significantly affect air quality are located. The project comprises eight wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.4 MW, generating around 58 GWh of clean energy annually, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Like all our projects in which we participate, this project also scores points with additional local benefits:
- The project protects one of the last grazing areas in a heavily industrialized area and prevents it from being taken up by other industries or urbanization.
- Night patrols by security personnel increase security in the region and create a safer environment for herders and their flocks.
- More than 6 km of roads were improved for the project and are now used by the local population.
- To support the local economy, services such as cleaning, water supply, pest control and transportation are purchased from local companies.
- During Ramadan, employees, shepherds and locals in the region receive food aid.
- Local organizations such as the Aliağa Farmers’ Association received financial support.

Progress
The Gold Standard Foundation is revising its technical specifications for greenhouse gas emission allowances to bring them even closer in line with the methodologies of the Paris Agreement. These methods update the approaches to additionality, determination of reference values, displacement effects and data quality. There is also good news outside Germany: for the first time, global electricity generation is green rather than fossil.
In the third quarter, we were able to increase the MOTS quota in the tablet segment once again, meaning that we were not only able to increase the availability of products, but also reduce the number of shipments from Asia. This is a noticeable effect, but one that is not currently reflected in our charts.
Setbacks
We have no notable setbacks to report for the third quarter.
Outlook
For the fourth quarter, we expect emissions to remain roughly the same or fall slightly, as we have already started large-scale production in the second and third quarters, which will ensure better economies of scale and lower real emissions along the supply chain.
